Originally from Curtilles, a small village near Lausanne in Switzerland, Jean Déglon arrived in France in the early 20th century. He quickly discovered the world of cutlery in the village of Sarraix, near Thiers, in Auvergne.
Within a few months, he became fascinated with this age-old art and in 1921 created his own workshop in Thiers, the French capital of this industry.

Four generations later, the family business has grown, evolved and become a reference brand for professionals in the restaurant and food service industries (butchers, fishmongers, pastry chefs, cheese makers, etc.) and hotel schools, all looking for quality culinary accessories and knives.
A family history
Since the creation of the company in 1921, Jean Déglon's heirs have succeeded each other at the head and within the company, in order to perpetuate the know-how and the family creativity.
- In 1960, René Déglon joined his father and developed the company by distributing its products - table and kitchen knives - in France and abroad.
- From 1976, the company takes the turn of industrialization. The production site was expanded and moved to the Felet industrial zone in Thiers.
- In 1980, it was Thierry's turn, Jean's grandson and René's son, to take the reins of the company. He leads the company towards its specialization in professional cutlery. To stand out from the competition, the company relies on innovation and research.
- In 2008, the fourth generation joins the company with the arrival of Moïse Déglon (Thierry's son), in charge of the commercial management.
- In 2017, he became General Manager of the company, with the objective of strengthening the development, especially in export and increase the awareness of the brand products.
