KASUMI
Our Kasumi lines are subdivided into an original Damascus series, a VG-10 series with titanium coating, a VG-10 series with hammered finish and a new line of knives in pure VG-10. The Damascus series offers a complete selection of knives in different sizes. All ranges are available for purchase as individual items or we provide a set of specially selected knife blocks for each range.
Seki, the cutlery capital of Japan, is located in the center of the Japanese archipelago. The history of cutlery in Seki goes back 780 years. Sword smiths appeared in Seki in the early 1200s. The founder of the industry was attracted to the area by its natural resources, including good quality soil for tempering blades, pine charcoal, fresh water and the proximity of two major rivers.
The main blade of Kasumi knives is made of V Gold No. 10 high carbon stainless steel, which is specially designed for knives. The blades are hardened to Rockwell C59 60 degrees, so they retain a sharper edge longer than any other knife. On both sides of the main cutting blade, a fine damask stainless steel pattern is plated. The Kasumi pattern you see on both sides of the knives is the result of repeated bending and forging of fine stainless steel in multiple layers.
Each knife is carefully finished at every stage of the manufacturing process by the hands of skilled craftsmen. The beauty of the Kasumi pattern, combined with the strength of the black laminated wood handles, gives these knives a graceful, yet solid look that is suitable for any kitchen style.
